Stephen Donald Oldham


A Parkersburg man was arrested yesterday after police received reports about a suspicious man dressed like a ninja.

According to a release, a caller reported a person dressed as a ninja with a loaded crossbow running east across Murdoch Avenue onto 31st Street towards Van Devender Middle School at 10:30 am. Uniformed officers checked the area and originally did not see the person. The school resource officer and school staff were advised of the situation and took precautionary measures due to this call.

At approximately 3:30 p.m, .officers received another call of a person dressed in all black in the area of the Park Shopping Center, described as the same from the earlier call. Officers located the person who was dressed in all black clothing and was also wearing a mask in the 7000 block of 29th Street. This subject was also wearing a backpack with an expandable baton exposed from the backpack and also was carrying an arrow. Officers gave a verbal command for the subject to stop for a field interview and the subject fled northbound. Officers chased the suspect on foot and quickly ended after the officer used a Taser to stop the chase. The subject was taken into custody for Fleeing and Eluding and Obstructing. 

The suspect was identified as Stephen Donald Oldham, was taken to CCMC for medical clearance for incarceration and later taken to Parkersburg Police Department for booking procedures. Oldham had several items within his backpack to include handcuffs, knives, a collapsible baton, a large chain, and electrical tape.

Police say It is unknown at this time why Oldham was wearing his attire or what his intent was at the time of these two calls. He awaits arraignment in the Wood County Holding Center.
