Adele is exploring a new skillset as she steps into the world of acting.
The "Hello" singer set to make her acting debut in Tom Ford's upcoming film, Cry to Heaven. The Grammy-winning musician will join a star-studded cast in the adaptation of Anne Rice's 1982 novel of the same name. The story, set in 18th century Italy, follows the intertwined lives of a Venetian noble and a castrated opera singer, per Variety. Others set to star in the film include Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Hunter Schafer, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Paul Bettany, and more.
Adele wrapped up her Las Vegas residency in late 2024 after previously telling fans that she wanted to take a break and explore other creative avenues, admitting in July 2024, "I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things."
Ford, known for his work in fashion and film, will direct, produce, and write the screenplay for Cry to Heaven. The film is currently in pre-production in London and Rome, with principal photography scheduled to begin in January 2026. He also plans to self-finance the project and seek a buyer post-production, according to Deadline.
This marks Ford's third film, following 2009's A Single Man and 2016's Nocturnal Animals, both of which received critical acclaim. Cry to Heaven is expected to release in the fall of 2026.
