I stumbled on this article earlier and was SO grossed out...
This photo of a large bacteria-filled Petri dish got a lot of buzz after a mom shared it to Microbe World. Apparently an 8-year-old boy had pressed his hand onto the Petri dish after he had been playing outside and thus, this gross image was born.
Tasha Sturm works as a microbiology lab tech at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California and was able to see all of the bacteria that grew in the Petri Dish after her son had touched it. It took about a week for the bacteria to develop to the point we see in the image.
Honestly, I don't even want to know what a Petri dish would look like after someone touched our studio.
